The conference discussed such topics as:
areas of ACC application: early assistance, education, social rehabilitation, medicine;
ACC in the family and in residential institution;
ACC technologies as a tool to support communication between children with severe multiple disabilities and adults;
assessment of communicative development and selection of alternative and additional means of communication;
a person with complex communication needs: opportunities and barriers;
issues of professional training of specialists;
support and counseling of families-users of ACC in a remote format.
The experience of introducing ACC, obtained during the implementation of the "Realization of Rights through Communication" project was presented by the project specialist Tatyana Korotkevich and the expert Tatyana Sinitsa. In the section "ACC for everyone" they made a report "Experience of including alternative and additional communication in interaction with children in the residential boarding schools in Belarus."
Practical resourses, methods and materials were in great demand at the conference. WWB could also share with the participants our workbook for specialists taking the AAC course "Basics of Alternative and Additional Communication".
The conference was very rich in useful presentations, but the main thing that was remembered and amazed was the sincere attitude of the organizers and participants among themselves, the great interest of specialists, the opportunity to find like-minded people and partners for further work.
Today is the time for ACC ("Alternative and Complementary Communication")
