International events

Within the framework of Key Action 1 “Mobility for Learning for Individuals”,  ERASMUS+  and CPA  “World Without Borders” took part in five international educational projects:

1) From March 8 to 12, 2016, an educational visit to Sweden “Not near, but together” took place. Five representatives of the organization “World Without Borders” visited the association  “Train to the Future”. During the visit, the organization's activities were presented, practical classes and a workshop on the characteristics of youth and social work in Sweden were held. A visit was made to the Swedish Parliament and the Green Party, an organization involved in the rehabilitation of former prisoners and drug addicts. The delegation visited also a family home for immigrant children.

2) A trilateral study visit for the specialists of “Integration and Equality” from May 2 to 6, 2017 was held in the Republic of Latvia with the participation of delegations from Belarus, Sweden and Latvia. During the event, the Latvian approach of working with adolescents in conflict with the law was studied. Visits to the school for children with behavioral problems, the day center for children with behavioral problems “Children's Oasis” (Bernu Oaze), and also to the rehabilitation center for children with deviant behavior took place. Participants familiarized themselves with the practice of social order for the rehabilitation of adolescents in conflict with the law. Planning for further collaboration also went through.

3) The second stage of the international project within the framework of the program “Mobility for the purpose of training” of the European Union was held. The training course “Integration and Equality” was held jointly with the “Train to the Future” Association (Kingdom of Sweden) and the organization “With Us” (Republic of Latvia) from May 17 to May 24, 2017 in Minsk. This training course covered issues of working with adolescents in conflict with the law and children who use psychoactive substances (motivational interviews, customer contact, ethics of social work, cognitive-behavioral therapy, etc.).

4) A networking event from September 16 to 23 in the Kingdom of Swedenwas organized. Within the framework of the project, the participants got acquainted with approaches to project planning and searching for their financing, got acquainted with the activities of organizations working with children and youth in other countries, strengthened the skills of writing applications for financing under the Erasmus + program, studied the approaches of youth and social work in others countries, discussed the prospects of cooperation with organizations, presented a game product developed by participants during a seminar in Minsk.

5) A training for youth workers “Celebrating Human Difference” from October 14 to 19, 2017 in Germany. This project brought together 21 youth leaders, youth workers and project managers for a 6-day training course in adventure pedagogy. The main objective of the project was to expand access to adventure pedagogy for participants with disabilities and special needs. During a six-day training in Germany, participants were presented with an introduction to the methods and practice of empirical education and outdoor learning. A special focus of the training program was aimed at adapting the methods of adventure pedagogy to the needs of participants with disabilities. The program included a series of sessions devoted to adventure pedagogy techniques, such topics as needs analysis, risk assessment, group dynamics. The entire training program was based on non-formal learning methods, including question and answer sessions, practical demonstrations, small group work, active feedback and much more. In addition to the theoretical component of the program, the practical part was also proposed: the training touched upon the practical aspects of planning in the framework of adventure pedagogy, the main elements of the rope course and the conduct of evaluation and feedback sessions.

In the framework of international cooperation of CPA "World without Borders" with foreign organizations, foreign meetings took place.

On April 10, 2018, in Riga, Latvia, a meeting was held between representatives of WWB and the project manager of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Latvia and the European Commission to improve the skills of employees of professional institutions in order to increase the competitiveness of students in the labor market. On April 11, meetings were held with the head of the Bernu Oaze organization, with the board of the Young folks organization, with the board of the Baltic Youth Way organization on the prospects for cooperation and opportunities for joint participation in project competitions. 

From April 15 to April 21, 2018 a study visit took place to the city of Wroclaw, Poland. Representatives of our organization met with representatives of the Ostoy organization. This is a parents’ organization dealing with children and young people with multiple and profound developmental problems. We got acquainted with the technical support of the Ostoy training and rehabilitation center. We attended classes on alternative communication, classes in a group with children with in-depth problems. Classes were held on religion, music therapy, feeding children with many developmental problems, outdoor activities with animals, classes at a speech therapist. Participants visited the center for early intervention and the center for preparing for work, the center for therapeutic and rehabilitation and the canteen, where 70% of people with disabilities work. They took over the interesting experience of the organization: team work, work between staff, the work of trainers in preparation for work. We reached an agreement for further cooperation of representatives of the Republic of Belarus for training practice. We participated in the study visit "Organization of work on the model of comprehensive rehabilitation of children with severe mental and physical developmental disorders." A meeting was held with the head of the organization Malgozhata Gorontsy, the results of the visit were summed up and plans for further cooperation were discussed.

From May 28 to June 05, 2018, our organization’s employees took part in the international seminar on the topic “Inclusion of Youth in the Eastern Partnership Regions”, which was organized by several funds of the Kingdom of Sweden and was attended by representatives of partner organizations from countries of the Eastern region (Belarus, Armenia , Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova). As part of the Joint Declaration of the Eastern Partnership Summit, which was organized on November 24 in Brussels in 2017, the states set a goal to support and empower young people in terms of developing their skills, civic participation of solidarity, promoting their employment and developing their entrepreneurial spirit. The seminar presented the best practices used and aimed at improving the lives of those young people who have fewer opportunities.  Representatives of non-governmental organizations from the above countries shared their best practices and presented the results of work with young people with disabilities and with teenagers in conflict with the law. CPA “World without Borders" shared its experience in working with children and young people with mental and physical problems living in the house-boarding institutions with the aim of deinstitutionalizing them, expanding the range of services to support and employ children after leaving institutions and incorporating them into society. A presentation was also provided on the work of WWB organization for working with youth in conflict with the law. During the seminar, the  participants got acquainted with new forms and methods of working with children and young people with IDF in different countries, and the approaches used by organizations to achieve results in the process of involving target groups in society.

From August 21 to August 27, 2018, the trip of the chairman of our organization to Lidköping, Sweden took place to participate in a round table of foundations and churches implementing humanitarian projects, to participate in activities to realize the rights of people with disabilities, as well as in 2 radio programs “Rejoice life. "

From September 2 to September 7, 2018 a visit of representatives of state institutions and public organizations took place at the invitation of the UNICEF Children's Fund with the participation and organization of “World Without Borders” in the Kingdom of Sweden. The participants visited the National Council (Department) of Institutional Institutions - SIS, the Commissioner for the Rights of the Child of the Kingdom of Sweden, the Fryshuset Charitable Foundation, the Framtidstaget Association, and the SIS Tysslinge closed institution. The participants got acquainted with the forms and methods of working with adolescents in contact with the law in the Kingdom of Sweden.

The All-Russian public organization “Russian Union of Youth” together with the autonomy of the non-profit organization “Center for the implementation of programs of the Russian Union of Youth” and the Television Creative Association “AMiK” from September 18 to 25, 2018, invited to the city of Anapa, Krasnodar Territory, Russian Federation an employee of  WWB to participate in the Eighth International festival of children's teams KVN. In addition to the main event, a seminar-meeting of the leaders of student youth programs in the regions was also held. Throughout the project, there was a lot of useful and necessary information on working with children and youth in different countries, which will be further used to work in our country.

On November 24-30, 2018, experts of “ World Without Borders” took part in a study visit to the Kingdom of Sweden to study the implementation of the rights of children with disabilities and international standards for assessing and monitoring the implementation of rights in Sweden. A meeting was organized at the Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, in the municipality of Jonköping. The participants visited the public organization “JAG”, which represents, trains and selects personal assistants as well as special education department, where they got acquainted with the structure and forms of the educational process for children with disabilities in Sweden.

From December 10 to December 13, 2018, an internship was held in the city of Krakow, Poland with the participation of a specialist of our organization for the organization of interdisciplinary interaction and team work of specialists in supporting children with severe and multiple developmental disabilities, borrowing experience on financing social orders.
From December 20 to 22, 2018, a specialist of our organization visited Vilnius, the Republic of Lithuania, to participate in the training on the development of project applications and the main aspects of project management.

On January 8-11, 2019, a study visit to Finland was held to study the system and practices used in the country to work with children and youth at risk, to strengthen international relations and establish cooperation. In the city of Helsinki, the participants met with Kimmo Gustafson, project manager Mirja Salo, program manager of the CDIP organization. Kimmo introduced the activities that they conduct. Among them: weekly visits to prisons, conversations with children and youth. The visits to the Orphanage and the Espoo Family Support Center were organized. It was agreed on possible cooperation in the field of counseling on methodological issues, online presentations at events with the Family Support Center. We also met with the head of the organization, Tina Hokkanen, Alliance of Youth Projects. Presenting the activities of the organization, we discussed possible points of cooperation, such as holding joint camps, youth projects, exchanges, as well as providing trainers for youth events.

On June 27-28, 2019, representatives of CPA “World without Borders” were invited to the city of Berlin, Germany to familiarize themselves with the experience of the non-governmental organization Kaspar Hause Stiftung in organizing work on the model of comprehensive rehabilitation for people with severe developmental disabilities, to participate in the seminar and the study of German social policies and practices in the field of working with people with disabilities, as well as to strengthen international relations and establish cooperation in the humanitarian sphere and for joint actions aimed at improving the quality of life of this category of people. This seminar was attended by young people with disabilities who had the opportunity to work. The main goal of all the work is the young man or girl entering the free labor market and mastering self-service skills for living independently. “World without Borders" shared its positive experience in training this category of people to open their own businesses in different regions of our country. A report was presented on the results of the activities of our organization during the project "Development of alternative types of child care with special needs in the Republic of Belarus.

On October 9-15, 2019, a study visit to the Kingdom of Sweden was held. During the trip, the participants got acquainted with the system of work with children and youth in conflict with the law and contact work. We learned about the system of selection and support for adolescents using the model of "Contact Person". Presented the work of the organization "World without Borders" to employees and volunteers of partner organizations and the public. We got acquainted with the experience of involving teenagers with problematic behavior in the work of second-hand social shops to organize their employment and expand social contacts.

On November 5-6, 2019, a trip to the Kingdom of Sweden (Stockholm, Växjö) was held. A meetings were held with the Board of the Stiftelsen Brödet Foundation, other partner organizations of Sweden, issues on cooperation were discussed, the activities of our organization were presented to the public, in which more than 40 representatives of humanitarian organizations took part.

On November 23-30, 2019, a study visit to the Kingdom of Sweden took place, in which representatives of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian State Pedagogical University, representatives of the house- boarding institutions for children with disabilities,  centers for correctional and educational training and rehabilitation took part. The participants visited the regional Committee for Social Services of Kronoberg Region and met the leadership, the Commission of the Council of Deputies on labor and welfare of the population, discussed issues related to the provision and support of children and adults with disabilities. There was a meeting in the district executive committee of the city of Vara with the chairman of the commission for social protection of the Council of Deputies. We got acquainted with the structure and principles of social service, studied the process of monitoring the implementation of the law on assistance and support to disabled children . We visited the departments of a short stay in Växjö, got acquainted with the tasks and functions of this department. We met with the contact family and discussed issues related to the stay of the child in the contact family. We visited the houses of the accompanied accommodation Johan Brink, the Odengarden daytime employment center, a special elementary school, the De la Gardie gymnasium in Lidköping. This study visit was aimed at introducing the system of social work with children and young people in Sweden, exploring new approaches in the field of inclusive education, using alternative communications, realizing the rights of children with disabilities, as well as international standards for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the rights of children with disabilities , for further use of the knowledge gained in our country.

On December 6, 2019, a representative of our organization visited our partner organization  “Center for Clinical Pedagogy” (Moscow, Russian Federation) and took part in an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of its formation. At the meeting with the head Anna Lvovna Bitova, Member of the Coordinating Council for Disabled Children and Other Disabled Persons under the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, the Expert Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, issues of cooperation in teaching alternative and additional communication, in particular Makaton program, seminars and webinars on the issues of sexuality and growing up of adolescents with disabilities, new approaches and technologies of psychological and pedagogical assistance to children with special needs, “burnout” of specialists working with children with disabilities were discussed. They discussed the possibility of using specialized methodological and informational materials developed by the employees of the Special Childhood Protection Center in the work of WWB. Anna Lvovna is the author and co-author of many scientific and practical programs aimed at creating a system of rehabilitation, education and integration of children with developmental disabilities as well as it was she who proposed the concept of reforming the system of assistance to children with disabilities in Russia.
