The first step is done

The Ivenets house - boarding institution for children with physical disabilities prepares for creation of new opportunities for the social help to those who need it the most – the families raising children with disabilities.

On the basis of the house boarding institution there was an organizational meeting within The Step Forward project.
The chairperson of CPA “World Without Borders” organization Tatyana Poyevskaya, director of the house-boarding institution Petrashkevich Elena, First Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on work of employment and social protection of Minsk region executive committee Domoratskaya Tatyana and other participants attended the meeting.

The Step Forward project is aimed at preparation of the draft of the road map on a deistitutionalisation of house-boarding institutions into the multipurpose centers of social support and rehabilitation.

The meeting was productive, the parties stated interest in work of the project.

Within the meeting the detailed excursion on the house-boarding institution took place. During the excursion we were convinced that this house-boarding institution as base for the pilot project for deistitutionalisation has high potential: inhabited blocks, the food block, a bath-and-laundry complex, educational classes, game rooms, the medical and rehabilitation block, the gym, the sports ground on the street, the museum.
The house boarding institution has high potential for development of medical, social, psychological and cultural rehabilitation services for children with disabilities and members of their families.
