From August 6 to August 10, 2018, the summer charity event "Freestyle: Free in Sport - Free in Life" was held in support of the students of Krivichi special college of closed type.
The theme of the action has traditionally been sports and a healthy lifestyle. In the course of the event, motivational discussions were held. Teenagers were visited by the members of the team on football freestyle, who introduced the boys to this sport, its features, and also held a mini-training. The training program for teambuilding and trust aroused special interest among teenagers, and, in our opinion, increased self-confidence and self-reliance, rallied teams and strengthened relations in the teams. During the consultations, both individual and small groups, all interested students had the opportunity to communicate face to face with contact friends, get answers to their questions, as well as give feedback on the model of work "Contact person" and WWB’s activities generally.
But no summer action would have been possible without the participation of the best volunteers in the world! Here and this time we were lucky to work in a wonderful team of wonderful, not indifferent people. Evgenia Adamova, a volunteer of the organization, shares her impressions:
"A year ago, for the first time I went to Krivichi to conduct a camp for ‘difficult teenagers’ with the team of World Without Borders. Everything I saw there forever changed my thoughts and ideas about life, so the most important event of this summer was again a trip to the institution.
The first day for both teenagers and volunteers is always a bit difficult, in the head the question behind the question is: why are you here? Will you bring any benefit? As you get to know each other everything becomes clear and by the 5th day you already know the exact answers. The activities that we prepared for the children were aimed at liberation, trust, teamwork, courage. And I'm really proud of the boys who, despite their inner pain and what they had and have to go through, found the strength to be open and sincere with us, not afraid to make contact, trusted and helped us.
There were also those students whom we already met before: some are mentees of contact persons, some participated in our events earlier. It was nice to notice that a lot of life views and attitudes changed, situations are considered differently… And the biggest dream of ours is to see their changed lives upon their return home. Before the trip to Krivichi, I had never thought about the life that did not concern me directly: life "beyond the fence". And reading in one of the reviews of the guys: "Thanks to "THE WORLD WITHOUT BORDERS" for the fact that they do care for people like me", one starts to understand that one indifferent decision can change someone's life. The most precious thing that we can give to others is time. People may not remember what you told or taught them, but they will never forget the feelings that they experienced next to you. This is also very important when staff of the institution provides their assistance. We do one thing and its quality depends on everyone involved!"
