Round table for specialists from Soligorsk

At the end of August a round table was held for the heads of general secondary educational institutions and representatives of the district executive committee dedicated to the start of the project "Improving restorative practices for adolescents in contact or conflict with the law", registered in the database of programs and projects of International Technical Aid of the Ministry of Economy on 13.05.2020 under the number 2/20/001085, implemented by the Charitable Public Association "World without Borders" together with the Republican Union of Lawyers with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the British Government (British Embassy Minsk). Directors and deputy directors of educational institutions of Soligorsk region took an active part in the discussion. The director of Socio- pedagogical Center of Soligorsk region spoke about the urgent needs of the professional community in their region to improve the quality of work with children in contact with the law. The event was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Commission for minors of Soligorsk District Executive Committee, the Deputy Chairman of the Commission for minors of Minsk District Executive Committee, who emphasized the importance of the project in terms of preventing child neglect and juvenile delinquency and identified the prospects for the formation of a contingent of first adolescents - beneficiaries of project assistance.

The representative of the CPA “WWB” presented the results of the work on the project "Social services for adolescents in contact with the law", registered in the database of programs and projects of International Technical Aid of the Ministry of Economy on January 21, 2019 under No. 2/19/000973, successfully implemented in State Educational Institution "Socio-pedagogical Center in Baranovichi" and State Educational Institution "Socio-pedagogical Center with the shelter in Leninsk District of Minsk".

Then the implementation of the project "Improving restorative practices for adolescents in contact with or in conflict with the law" was presented, registered in the database of programs and projects of International Technical Aid of the Ministry of Economy on 13.05.2020 under the number 2/20/001085.

During the event, the implementation of case management in the work with children of the target groups of the project was discussed. All participants got acquainted with the basic methods of working with specialists and adolescents, goals, objectives and activities that are planned in the project "Improving restorative practices for adolescents in contact or conflict with the law."

As a result of active group participation in the discussion of this topic, the participants of the event asked many questions, talked about the problems of interaction with adolescents and came to the conclusion about the relevance of creating a consultative center.

In the second part of the round table, further actions in the project of each Socio-pedagogical Centers were identified for the regions. Participants of the events, working with children in contact with the law, noted new knowledge in ensuring the growth of the quality of socio-pedagogical, psychological and other types of assistance.

The main goal of the project is to create a model of working with children and adolescents in conflict with the law by expanding the range of services and forms of assistance based on restorative approaches for these categories of children in the regions.

Within the framework of the project, consultative centers will be created in the town of Soligorsk and in Minsk region for adolescents in contact or conflict with the law, training meetings, round tables, seminars and conferences will be organized and conducted.

This project aims to expand the use of mediation and mediation tools in relation to minors in contact or conflict with the law. Within the framework of this project, social and pedagogical work with adolescents in contact or conflict with the law, as well as the implementation of restorative practices will be carried out on the basis of advisory centers created at two Socio-padagogical Centes: in Minsk region and Soligorsk.
