Poetry Contest: Challenge or Chance?

WWB decided to hold a series of events and competitions for the children, which could encourage them to show a creative approach to organizing their time. One of such events is a poetry contest. We wondered: what will the children' poems be like, will they manage to make up a poem, will they be willing to write one? When negotiating the terms of the contest, we emphasized the maximum scope for imagination. It can be a rap-text, it can be a song, or it can be a one-line poem. We set no boundaries (except for natural decency and the boundaries of the interests of other people). This idea, though controversial at first glance, was supported by the children - every boy was able to express himself in poetry.

The first try ... for some it is the first attempt to comprehend ordinary and familiar phenomena putting them in the language of rhymes and verbal interweaving.

It is interesting that almost all of the children write poetry not on paper, but in their heads. And only then from memory they transfer their ideas to paper. These are the lines written by teenagers, who by the will of fate fell into difficult life circumstances, and told their story on paper.

What are the poems about? - About mom, love and summer, such a childish and easy time of the year, when ... They are here for you to read.

“Those who did not write poetry in childhood have missed something! ” Therefore, it is especially important now to encourage those who “dared”. We put the winning poems to music and created small video clips. This is something they can be proud of, something that they can show at home when they come back. We also prepared small gifts for everyone. Each of you can also support the children in your own words, deeds, and we will make sure to deliver them to the addressee. There’s a chance that your support will give the country and the world a famous poet and creator! That goes in line with WWB’s motto - even a small act of love can make a big difference.

We would like to express our gratitude to all the volunteers who took an active part in the contest organization; we would like to say a big thank you to Olga Korolenok for her creative approach and participation in the competition. She read the text behind the scenes in the video, filmed and edited the video! Thank you for your caring heart for the fate of the guys. It is in moments like this that you do realize that a small act of love can make a big difference!

Here are some poems for you to read:

Summer!

Our summer is bright, hot and sunny!
The sun is radiant fluffy cloud!
The flowers are beautiful, the lovely ones flourish.
Our fruits are bright and sweet!

A vegetable garden is right there, it bears fresh fruit.
And in the forest, meanwhile, from the ground, mushrooms spring up!
And the berries wake up, smile in the summer.
Summer is a cool time, you never get bored with it.

Birds in the sky in flocks in summer, sing songs to us.
And the animals in the forest are starting to walk and decorate nature!
Meanwhile, in the pond, the fish wake up
Summer whispers to us right there, it's time for us all to have fun and swim,

In sports, we all surrender and all the time be cheerful, friendly, strong and healthy.
Summer brings us joy, warmth and kindness, that's why I love you this summer!

Holidays!

Holidays... free time
Boys and girls go out late!
All the kids have gathered, play games
They are busy with what they love, they frolic and sing!
Well, the evening is approaching, it gets dark in the yard,
All go home, in the pitch darkness of the night!

Nikita, 13 years old

Mom!
I only understood here
what mistake I made.
And conscience replaced me
Selfish smile ...

Sorry mom.
I lied to your face!
Sorry mom.
I looked right through you
Counting the birds.
looking out the window ...

Sorry mom,
I wasn't listening to you
and your friends are like radio!
I only recently realized
that the radio station was found incorrectly!

I'm sorry mom I was two-faced
I said one thing today
but tomorrow it’s not that at all ...

I will ask you for forgiveness a hundredfold
I want you to understand
I have changed - more than once ...

And thank God that at home
I didn't get this trigger
for me this institution is
As they say,
"great lesson".

Artem, 16 years old

It's raining outside the window
You and I are walking together
In this city at night
You and I are walking together.
There is no you and there is no me
We are not there and you are not present ...
There are no trains here
A star does not fall here ...
You are my beloved one,
we are with you forever ...
