Master Class for Consultants on the Development of the Child Protection Policy

The meeting was organized with the aim to coordinate the activities of consultants in their institutions (specialists from 12 project beneficiary institutions) and it was held on December 13 on the basis of the State Educational Institution "Social and Pedagogical Center with a Shelter of Leninsky District of Minsk". Oksana Goven, Director of the SPC, kindly conducted an introductory tour for all participants of the event.⠀
The main task of the master class was to develop a preamble to the Child Protection Policy (CPP) - a mechanism that regulates the rights of children and adolescents, contributing to the creation of a friendlier, safer, more favorable environment in each particular institution, taking into account their specifics.
The participants were divided into 3 groups: representatives of social and pedagogical centers, employees of the house-boarding institutions, specialists of special educational institutions of a closed type. Further, the task was given to draw up a sketch of the preamble of the CPP, observing the most important principles and provisions, to describe the possible risks of violation of children's rights and recommendatory measures for prevention and response. Then each group presented the result of collective work and a joint analysis was carried out from all those present with comments and suggestions.
In the 2nd part of the meeting, representatives of the institutions shared the progress of the project implementation at their workplaces in blocks: work with teenage trainers on children's rights (conducting classes for pupils of institutions, creating an active group of peers, recording thematic videos, etc.), as well as work with personnel, i.e. with the colleagues.

The event contributed to a better understanding of the consultants how and what exactly should be reflected in the CPP of their institutions. Such meetings will be continued, as further support and consultation by experts is needed in the preparation of a document on the rights of children.⠀
