Our staff and volunteers spent a week with the girls of Petrikov institution for teenagers in conflict with the law. It was a week full of activities and emotions, that will live long in the hearts and memories of everyone involved.
The first day is always special. It is filled with excitement, long-awaited reunions and joyous moments of meeting new people and making new connections. Arriving there, you understand that you are happy there, you were expected and greeted as family, all because the girls are full of emotions, kindness, and love. After the initial greetings, everyone dispersed into groups, where they continued their communication and team building. Each team had a specific task: to come up with a name, motto, and a way to introduce their team. When everyone was ready, the jury took seats in the assembly hall and a theatrical life began on the stage. Each team took the task seriously and did everything 100%. The jury did not leave any group without a nomination: one received a reward for creativity, one for a poster, and another for unity in the team.
The next day, a specialist from one of the world’s leading cosmetic companies held a master class to take care of themselves and their facial skin. This is a very interesting and important topic, so everyone listened very carefully, and after the training asked many questions.
Each day, personal conversations were held on the theme of beauty and health. The girls asked many questions, shared their experience, and agreed that inner beauty is more important than outer. One evening the film "Writers of Freedom" was screened followed by a discussion that again, had everyone involved and as the story really connected with them.
We did not forget about physical activity and sport! Fitness classes are not only fun, but also very useful. And, of course, competitions in volleyball, pioneer ball, trampoline and much more have become an integral part of our program.
The last day, as always, was the hardest and most sad, because it's time to part. During these short days the pupils became attached to their mentors, and mentors to the girls. The farewell session was held with tears in eyes, but it was not farewell, just see you soon! On return, communication with the girls continues through letters.
