1 June 2020

The 1 of June is the 70th anniversary of the International Children's Day. The decision to hold it was made by the International Democratic Federation of Women at a special session in November 1949. UN supported this initiative and declared the protection of the rights, life and health of children as one of the priority areas of its activities.

It is symbolic that this holiday is celebrated with the beginning of one of the most beloved by children season in our country - summer.

In 1959, UN adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, which included articles appealed to the parents, state bodies, local authorities and governments, non-governmental organizations to recognize the rights and freedoms of children, set forth in them and strive to comply with them. And only 30 years later, the first and main international legal act appeared in which the rights of the child were considered at the level of international law - the Convention on the Rights of the Child (November 20, 1989).

Children make up about a quarter of the population in each country. On the path of growing up and mastering the world, they are at risk of various dangers. By the force of fate, a number of children experience certain life problems, which make it even more difficult for them to fully realize their rights. Sometimes this is exacerbated by the absence of a number of persons who should help them in this - parents, relatives. WWB works just with such children and you are our partners!

International Children's Day is, first of all, a reminder to us, adults, about the importance and inalienability of the protection and realization of the rights of those "for whom we are responsible." Let's think again over the meaning of the usual and so ordinary words: rights to life, freedom, education, rest and leisure, protection from all forms of violence, protection against exploitation and others. Let’s help the children to feel their importance, security and our support!

Congratulations, dear colleagues!
