Interdepartmental interaction to keep a child with a disability in the family

The practical seminar "Interdepartmental cooperation for keeping  a child with disabilities in the family" was attended by 60 representatives of organizations of the educational management system, health care, social protection of  Minsk region, representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and Education of Belarus, the Main Department of Education and the Regional Committee for Labor and Employment and social protection of Minsk region. At the seminar,  leaders of the project “Warm House” of the Charitable Foundation “Volunteers Helping Orphans” (Russia) shared their experience.
Participants were able to get acquainted with the new provisions of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus in the field of determining children with disabilities in residential social service institutions and  they got to know about new social services for families raising children with disabilities, they were told about the experience of foreign countries in assessing the needs of children and family capabilities, technologies for preventing institutionalization of children with disabilities.
The interactive part of the workshop was devoted to testing assessment forms for studying the potential of a child and family, planning activities to prevent a child from entering a residential boarding institution and developing individual recommendations for the family. The result of the seminar was the development of general recommendations of specialists for the work of interdepartmental commissions created in each region of the country to prevent children with disabilities from entering the residential boarding institution.
