This past week, a team of our specialists and volunteers travelled to Mogilev and spent the week with the boys of Mogilev special school institution for teenage boys in conflict with the law. Our goal for the camp was to do exciting activities with the boys while engaging their minds, bodies, and imagination. Indeed, this whole week was filled with movies, filming and much more.
On the first day of the camp, the boys were split into teams and each team was given a topic. Their task for the week was to make a film on this topic and present it on the last day at a screening. Each topic was different, but relevant to the teenage sphere. The boys did everything themselves: they wrote the script, cast the characters, shot and edited. The cunning leadership of our volunteers skilfully controlled all the processes. In parallel with amateur films, a professional group of cameramen filmed a social video about the life of a teenager, about his dreams and personal experiences. Not only were the boys kept busy with these films, but they also participated in competitions, playe games, talked with volunteers and much more. The fascinating relay race, in which all the pupils took part, was the beginning of the summer action. The tasks were not difficult, but they had to be done quickly and efficiently. Everyone tried, but the strongest won!
Of course, there was football, how could we not?! One evening we had a football championship that each team took very seriously and played brilliantly. However, Kapitoshka is the most favourite summer game for both children and adults. “What is that?” You ask. It is a water game. Played with a volleyball net, two teams throw and catch water balloons using towels. Coordination is very important in this game otherwise you could end up very wet! The August sun was high in the sky and brought very high temperatures, so nobody wanted to stay dry. Civilized Kapitoshka gradually turned into a real water fight on the football field with bottles and buckets being fired left right and centre, no one was safe!
As is tradition, on the last evening, the volunteers and the boys prepared a farewell dinner outside. What can be more delicious than the food that is prepared by hands in the fresh air. Yes, and on a barbeque of course. It's an unforgettable time in the team circle, with a hot meal in hand and a good company and songs by the fire.
Time flew at the speed of light, as always. And as usual, our volunteers have rewritten their mailing addresses in almost every notebook of every pupil, so now we are waiting for letters!
