On October 29, a consultation was held for the professionals of the social-pedagogical and psychological service of the city of Pinsk. Psychologists and counselors were consulted on the methodology for structured assessment of the risks of committing repeated offences and the possibilities of neutralizing them.
The main task of using the proposed methodology is to provide timely psychological, pedagogical and social assistance to an adolescent who demonstrates risky behavior, based on an individual preventive route. The risk assessment method makes it possible to determine precisely those characteristics and needs of a teenager, that, according to the results of scientific research, are directly related to the likelihood of reoffending.
Professionals in Pinsk got acquainted with the methodology, learned about the nuances of its application to use, and also tried to apply the methodology in practice in micro-groups. First, professionals together with the teenagers discussed the problem areas and after that they identified the needs and priorities of the child to overcome the risk situation.
Our organization contributed to the adoption of the decision of the Commission on Minors' Affairs on the dissemination in all educational institutions of the experience of using structured methods of assessing the risks of further criminalization in preventive work following the implementation of the project "Teenager in conflict with the law: from conflict to inclusion" into 25 regional sites.
As part of the project, we continue to work on the implementation and dissemination of work methods that have shown their effectiveness for the resocialization of a teenager. This training event contributes to improving the professional competencies of professionals, as well as improving the quality of preventive and reintegration assistance to adolescents in conflict with the law.
