Art Festival "Dreams Come True!"

6 June 2017

The festival "Dreams Come True" is a three-day event of creativity, celebration, communication, fun and lots of positive emotions. For children living in orphanages, this is a brilliant opportunity to perform on a big stage, to realize talents and show their creativity in all its glory, to find new friends and travel. For spectators and guests of the festival it is an opportunity to see and evaluate the creative potential of children with disabilities, get to know them better, rethink their attitude towards them.

This year the Festival conquered the city of Vitebsk. On June 1, a qualifying round was held in Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic where the contest program of a team from 10 house-boarding institutions was presented, and a team from Odessa (Ukraine) also performed. In the competition program of the festival, art groups presented their performances in various genres: songs, dances, theatrical miniatures. Participants were asked to show their vision of the future and prepare speeches on the topic "Dreams Come True 3017". The programme was evaluated by a competent jury and watched by about 350 spectators.

The next day a grand gala concert took place on the stage of the summer amphitheatre. Together with the children, the famous Belarusian performers and dance groups came to the main stage of Vitebsk. The concert was attended by more than 4000 spectators.

The main prize of this year is the right to represent our country at an international competition in Sweden. And due to the fact that house-boarding institutions are rather closed institutions, the residents dream of going outside their borders, changing the situation, and just having a chance to live like everyone else. Every performance and every performer is a whole world, a separate story, a special destiny. Birth, a serious disorder, betrayal of the closest people, the struggle for survival and for your "I" - that's what unites the participants of the festival.

There are many successful stories, when children and young people who participated in the festival, overcame their ailment. For example, for the talented singer Mikhail Rachkov from Vasilishki house-boarding institution art gave power to undertake several difficult and painful operations, and attend trainings that helped him stand on his feet.

All the art teams have very convincingly shown that their dreams worth implementing. And the team from Bogushevsk house-boarding institution is recognized as the winner and the owner of the highest award of the festival.

In the team from Bogushevsk there are eight people of different ages - from 14 and up to 30 years old. The head of the team, educator Irina Mironova shared that it was not the first time the young people participated in the festival, however they were excited and worried before the performance: "A man does not know how long he will live. But he is given to choose one thing: how he/she should deal with this time - to live! The main idea of our musical performance is in these words. Three times we have  represented our country at the International Festival "Krakow Meetings". Once we won the Grand Prix and always receive the People’s Choice Award. I hope that in Sweden the jury members will appreciate the performance of our young people. "
