19 October 2020

Training for professionals of social and pedagogical centers and closed type educational institutions continues within the framework of “Teen in Conflict with the Law: from Conflict to Inclusion” project.

The seminar "Realization of rights and legitimate interests of children through the introduction of systematic approaches in educational institutions" is aimed at raising awareness of specialists on the protection of the rights of the child, since the major developmental goal of the project is to provide guarantees for adolescents in conflict with the law through the realization of their rights.

Part of the event was devoted to the discussion of problematic situations in the implementation of the project as well as the development of proposals for their solution. Anna Vysotskaya, Leading Specialist on the Rights of the Child at SOS Children's Villages, conducted an interactive training “Realizing the Rights of the Child. Guidelines of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child ” to familiarize specialists with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and approaches to its implementation. In the course of the work the specialists were asked to determine the risks of violations of rights, which could potentially occur in their professional activities. In addition, the participants got acquainted with the structure of the policy for the protection of the rights of the child and the technology for the development and implementation of policies and strategies of educational institutions. After the seminar it is planned to conduct training seminars by the specialists themselves in educational institutions in their communities.

The participants expressed their readiness to apply the knowledge gained in the field of child rights protection: identification of risks and work on their prevention. They also received knowledge on possible risks of violation of rights, ways to overcome them, informing about rights and assistance in their implementation.
