October 12-14 - UNDEF Core Team meeting

How important it is sometimes to pause in order to analyze the activities carried out, to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the project process, in order to correct further steps in the implementation of the plan.
On October 12-14, we managed to get together for joint discussions. The main group of the project "Protection of the rights of adolescents in institutions of Belarus" who are representatives of governing bodies, higher educational institutions for advanced training and retraining of personnel, public organizations that support and coordinate the activities of 24 consultants on children's rights in 12 institutions. The topic of the meeting was - "Assessment of the current situation in the implementation of children's rights and use of its results in the development of the Child Protection Policy (CPP)".
The organizers informed about the progress of the project, the events held, future plans and problematic issues in the field of protecting children's rights. They spoke about the principle of zero tolerance, on which the law enforcement approach to protecting children from violence and situations of risk should be built.
On one of the days, those present were asked to take an online survey on the recognition and prevention of rude, cruel treatment of children (this survey was initiated by WWB as part of the project). After processing the results, an analysis of each situational task from the questionnaire was carried out. Many nuances were revealed in the understanding and identification of types of violence, heated discussions took place among the participants of the Project Core Group.

Selectively, the results of surveys were presented for institutions in which pupils, staff, parents or legal representatives of children were comprehensively interviewed.
At the end of the seminar, each participant shared what he found important and significant during the discussions. Approval was expressed regarding the practical significance of the project, as well as the readiness to continue to participate in its implementation and coordination.
